Decades of academic and industry research

During my Masters in Consulting and Coaching for Change, run jointly by HEC Paris and Saïd Business School Oxford, I researched and tested the academic theory which underpins the Strategy and Leadership as Service business model. I share my findings in my latest book.

I will soon embark on a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) with Warwick Business School to deepen my knowledge.

  • The access economy enables sharing of assets to optimise their use. Outcomes involve broader and cheaper access without ownership, more intensive adoption, and an attractive, sustainable offering. Spotify and Netflix are just two examples of an increasing number of digital services that have grown exponentially. Consumers realise that they no longer need to own and store vinyl records or DVDs to enjoy the benefits of listening to music and watching films and TV whenever they want.

  • Businesses benefitting from Strategy and Leadership as Service are, in the broadest sense, "sharing" the services of their fractional C-suite professional and the model is one of access within the sharing economy.

  • My research focuses on what holds relationships together in the C-suite access economy for the long-term in the absence of traditional employment contracts. How can the relationship deepen and flourish so that it doesn't feel like the business is “renting” the C-suite services or that it is temporary and a stop-gap until it can afford a full-time C-suite executive?

I will continue to increase my understanding of why and how the access economy business model for C-suite services works and will be conducting a number of field level studies within the industry. If you are interested in my insights and would like to participate, please get in touch.
