Over the years, I’ve had many conversations with entrepreneurs and business leaders who have left corporate to ‘do their own thing’ believing they’d never dread Mondays again. Yet, many of them have shared the feeling eventually crept back in…
In talking to them, it’s clear that often this isn’t a sign they should return back to corporate or that they aren’t cut out for entrepreneur life…
Instead, this feeling of overwhelm and being overworked is often a signal that a break is needed and perhaps a fresh way of approaching things.
Here are a few warning signs of being overworked that many leaders I’ve spoken to have experienced:
🕒 You are working late into the night to keep on top of your admin and compliance.
😴 You have physical symptoms – constant fatigue, trouble sleeping, headaches, illness.
🤦♀️ You have become clumsy and are making mistakes which are just causing more work.
😡 You have a short fuse at work, at home, and generally this has become your default demeanour.
Thankfully, there are many brilliant strategies for managing stress and the demands of juggling multiple hats.
(Including getting outside for the non-negotiable daily dog walk! 🌳🐶)
